The Council continued its commitment
to the ongoing and sustainable
enhancement of work processes:
Online renewal of annual practising
certifcates
The online renewal of annual practising
certifcates was further embedded during
the year and the Council was delighted
with the positive response received
from, and the uptake of this facility by,
nurses. At the end of March 2013,
50,791 annual practising certifcates had
been processed, with only 23,645 being
completed as hard copies.
Payment methods were extended to
allow nurses to pay by debit or credit
card as well as directly using the
Account2Account electronic payment
system.
State fnal examinations candidate
registration
During the year work was undertaken to
allow graduate nurses to apply to sit the
state fnal examinations using an online
tool. This development was welcomed
by heads of nursing schools as it
streamlined their sign-off of students.
An initial test group was set up during
the November 2012 exam process,
with the tool being made available to
all candidates from July 2013.
Applications for annual practising
certifcates for new graduates
Following the implementation of the
candidate online exam registration
process, further work was undertaken to
allow new graduate nurses to complete
their frst annual practising certifcates
online. This development sped up entry
to the workforce for graduates.
