Lesley Going
Deputy ChairpersoN
Lesley Going is currently the Managing Director of a large medical centre in West Auckland,
having been the Practice Manager for 14 years. During this time she oversaw the development
of a state-of-the-art integrated family health centre, which was completed in 2009. She is
also a Director of the primary health organisation ProCare Health Limited. Lesley has a
background in secondary school teaching and has signifcant leadership experience and
involvement with community, sporting and business groups. The Minister of Health appointed
her to the Council in 2011.

Patricia Seymour, OBE
Patricia Seymour has been
involved in health and
education from an advocacy
perspective for more than
35 years. Initially involved
with Plunket following the
birth of her children, she has
also been involved in early
childhood education, hospital
and health boards, the Early
Childhood Development
Unit and conservation
via the QEII National
Trust. She is currently the
Chair of Environment and
Policy for the Gisborne
District Council. Pat has
a Diploma of Business
Studies in endorsed health
management. She was
appointed to the Council by
the Minister of Health as a lay
member in 2009.
Dr Deborah Rowe
Dr Deborah Rowe (Nga- i Tahu)
holds a joint appointment
with the Auckland District
Health Board as a Nurse
Consultant and the University
of Auckland as a lecturer. She
also works as a registered
nurse. Deborah has recently
completed a PhD in nursing
at the University of Auckland.
Since registration she has
completed a Master of
Health Science, a Master
of Management and a
Postgraduate Diploma in
Health Management. Deborah
is currently Chair of the M -aori
Advisory Committee of the
National Screening Unit and
Deputy Chair of the Ethics
Committee for Assisted
Reproduction. Deborah was
appointed to the Council
in 2008 and reappointed in
2011. Deborah was elected
Chair in March 2013.
Kathrine Townshend
October 2006 -
oCtober 2012
Kathrine Townshend was
appointed to the Council
in October 2006 as a lay
member. She previously
worked in a law offce
and has also worked as
a counsellor working with
survivors of sexual abuse
and domestic violence.
Kathrine also spent six years
on committees involved in
the ethical review of research
involving human participants.
Dr Jo Ann Walton
Dr Jo Ann Walton is Professor
of Nursing and Head of
the Graduate School of
Nursing, Midwifery and
Health at Victoria University
of Wellington. Her nursing
background encompasses
a range of academic and
clinical posts, along with
experience in governance and
management in the education
sector. She was appointed to
the Council for a three-year
term following success in the
2011 Council elections.
